The price of basic services, such as refuse removal and electricity, should not be linked to a property's value. Many people bought property in the city many years ago and are now retired, living off savings and pensions. How are these people expected to cope with the rising cost of living and an exorbitant rate hike? How is it acceptable for citizens to serve their community for years by working and contributing to society, only to discover that they can no longer live in their homes? |
